General Decorum and Shared Expectations
At Dr. Yanga's Colleges, Inc. (DYCI), maintaining a high standard of decorum is essential to fostering a positive and respectful academic environment. DYCI Norms describe the expectations that guide student behavior, participation, relationships, and responsibilities within the institution.
These norms support the personal and academic development of DYCIans while helping promote a cohesive and professional atmosphere both on and off campus. They include upholding the DYCIan Core Values, adhering to institutional policies, carrying and responsibly using the Student ID, observing proper conduct during national and institutional ceremonies, practicing honesty and respectful interpersonal relationships, participating responsibly in school activities, and maintaining DYCI facilities.
The DYCI Norms form part of the General Decorum provisions of the DYCIan Higher Education Roadmap 2024 Edition. They provide students with a clear framework for responsible participation in academic and campus life.
The DYCIan Core Values are expected to be reflected in the daily activities and interactions of every DYCIan. The Roadmap identifies God-centeredness, Magis, Sapientia, and Paraya as the institution's Core Values.
Their expression should be evident in a student's academic performance, participation in school activities, and personal conduct both on and off campus. DYCIans are encouraged to regularly reflect on their alignment with these values and seek opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
To support this development, DYCI provides opportunities such as workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs focused on deepening students' understanding and practice of the Core Values.
Behavior or conduct that contradicts DYCI's Core Values may be addressed through the institution's disciplinary processes.
What are the DYCIan Core Values?
The DYCIan Core Values are God-centeredness, Magis, Sapientia, and Paraya, which students are expected to embody in their daily activities, interactions, academic performance, participation in school activities, and personal conduct.

Understanding Your Responsibilities as a DYCIan
DYCIans are required to adhere to the institution's general policies and guidelines covering academic conduct, behavioral expectations, and participation in school activities.
Academic conduct includes maintaining integrity in coursework, examinations, and research, while observing established standards of academic performance and ethics.
Behavioral expectations apply to conduct both within and outside the campus. They include interactions with peers, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
Students are expected to engage responsibly in institutional, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities while following the guidelines established by their respective programs and organizations.
DYCI expects students to take responsibility for keeping their parents or guardians informed about their academic performance, attendance, and disciplinary matters. This includes communicating the consequences of academic failures, absences, and disciplinary infractions.
The Roadmap states that DYCI may provide information to parents or guardians as a courtesy, but the student remains responsible for ensuring that their support network is fully informed.
DYCI monitors compliance with its policies through regular audits, feedback from faculty and staff, and reports from students. Students are also encouraged to provide feedback regarding institutional policies and their implementation through surveys, suggestion boxes, and student forums.
The DYCI Student ID
Upon enrollment, every DYCIan is issued a unique Student ID, which must be carried at all times while on campus. The Student ID serves as the official identification for accessing campus facilities, participating in academic and extracurricular activities, and availing of campus services.
Students are responsible for the security and proper use of their Student ID. The ID must not be loaned or transferred to another person.
If a Student ID is lost or stolen, the incident must be immediately reported to the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS). A replacement ID will be issued following the report, and students may be required to pay a replacement fee and submit an Affidavit of Loss.
DYCIans must also inform OSAS of changes in personal information, such as a change of name or program, when the change requires an update to the Student ID.
Participating with Respect
DYCI recognizes the importance of proper conduct during national and institutional ceremonies.
During the Philippine National Anthem, the recitation of the Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Quality Policy, and the singing of the DYCI Hymn, DYCIans must stand attentively, remove their hats, and participate actively as a mark of respect.
DYCIans should also follow the guidelines for ceremonial conduct during official school events and assemblies.
These practices provide a shared setting for the DYCI community to participate respectfully in important institutional occasions.
Creating a Respectful Academic Community
Honesty and respectful relationships are fundamental to a supportive academic environment at DYCI.
DYCIans are required to engage in honest academic practices. This includes avoiding plagiarism, cheating, and any form of academic dishonesty.
Courteous and respectful behavior must be maintained in interactions with peers, faculty, and staff. These practices help foster a supportive and collaborative academic environment.
Conversations in academic and common areas should be conducted in a way that does not disturb or distract others. Voices should be moderated to maintain a conducive learning environment.
DYCI requires the use of appropriate language and the avoidance of offensive jokes or comments. Students should also follow campus etiquette guidelines to help ensure that members of the DYCI community feel respected and valued.
Feedback concerning disruptive behavior is addressed through the institution's disciplinary process as part of maintaining a respectful campus culture.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
DYCI encourages students to actively participate in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, including student organizations, seminars, and community service.
Participation should contribute to personal growth and to the wider DYCI community.
Students are also encouraged to participate in activities related to their field of study. These experiences can provide practical experience and complement academic learning.
Opportunities may include:
The DYCI Higher Education Roadmap also describes the role of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) in supervising and monitoring recognized student organizations, supporting leadership development, encouraging participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, promoting school spirit and belongingness, and providing opportunities for socio-civic involvement such as volunteerism and environmental protection.
Caring for the Campus and Shared Resources
Maintaining DYCI facilities is a shared responsibility of the community.
DYCIans must keep classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas clean and orderly and follow posted guidelines for facility use.
Any damage or misuse of school property must be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Prompt reporting helps maintain the quality of DYCI facilities and allows necessary repairs to be addressed in a timely manner.
Personal items should be stored properly. Littering and damage to property are not tolerated.
DYCI is a completely smoke-free campus. Smoking of any kind, including traditional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and vaping devices, is prohibited on all campus grounds.
This prohibition applies to both indoor and outdoor areas, including:
