Innovation at Dr. Yanga's Colleges, Inc. is not a single office. It is the habit of asking how things could work better, and then building the answer. Named the Most Transformative School in the Philippines in 2012, DYCI has made hands-on invention part of how DYCIans learn, from Grade School to College.
Three programs carry that work. The DYCI Robotics Program has competed nationally and internationally since 2008. The Research Program, through CREDO, SCIRE and SIBOL, turns student questions into studies, prototypes and publications. The DYCI Sustainability Office points both toward a greener, smarter campus guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
DYCI Robotics Program
Since 2007, the Robotics Team of Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Inc. have been joining national robotics competitions such as Philippine Robotics Olympiad and FIRST Lego League (FLL) Philippines. The team also represents the country in international competitions such as the World Robot Olympiad, FLL World Festival, and FLL Invitational, and others.

Guided by our mission and vision, DYCI Research focuses on fostering innovative, ethical, and transformative research that addresses local and global challenges while contributing to sustainable development.
DYCI Sustainability Office
The DYCI Sustainability Office leads the institutional efforts of Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Inc. toward becoming a green and smart campus. Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the office is committed to implementing a comprehensive sustainability action plan that integrates environmental, academic, and community priorities. By 2025, it aims to establish campus-wide sustainability policies and by 2030, to transform DYCI into a zero-waste and carbon-neutral academic institution — setting a national benchmark for sustainability in Philippine higher education.

Students design, build and program robots for the World Robot Olympiad, FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Global Challenge, learning engineering by doing it.

Our young inventors turn waste into something useful. Two of their recycling devices are registered industrial designs.

Water & Climate Resilience
From an underwater robot that detects algae to sensors that spot blockages in drainage canals, we build tools that help communities protect their waters and prevent flooding.

Our College of Nursing faculty research better ways to care for patients, from easing vaccine pain to supporting ICU nurses.

STEM Outreach & Global Partnerships
We share what we learn: robotics demos for partner public schools, a STEM academy pilot with the World Robot Olympiad, and links with schools across Asia and Europe.

Algae-Detecting Underwater Robot
An underwater robotic machine that detects algae and helps control its spread. The team tested it in Manila Bay and Bulacan waters before taking it to the FIRST LEGO League Open International in Greece, where DYCI won the Champion's Award – 3rd Place (2025).
Mobile Recycling Device for Writing Materials
A Junior High School invention that turns waste into writing materials, now a registered industrial design.
Portable Recycling Design for Plastic Slippers
A Senior High School design that recycles plastic into slippers, also a registered industrial design.
Project BARA
Blockage detection that uses technology to monitor road drainage canals and help avert flooding.
ALAB Research Summit
Aral at Likhang Agham para sa mga Bulakenyo, our annual showcase of student research. ALAB 2026 featured 18 projects under the theme ROOTS and earned the Sustainability Green Department Award.
