Spirituality

Spirituality

Faith and spirituality are at the heart of the DYCI experience. Through its God-Centered Program, DYCI fosters a community where students grow with a strong moral foundation and a deeper sense of purpose guided by Christian principles.

Faith Formation at the Heart of the DYCI Community

At Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Inc., spirituality is an integral part of the formation of the whole person. It provides opportunities for members of the DYCI community to deepen their relationship with God, reflect on their purpose, and express their faith through everyday life, relationships, and service. Rooted in the institution’s God-centered orientation, DYCI’s spiritual formation seeks to accompany students throughout their educational journey. Through prayer, liturgical celebrations, reflection, formation activities, and opportunities for community, students are encouraged to grow not only academically and personally, but also spiritually. Spirituality at DYCI is therefore not limited to a single activity or occasion. It is part of the continuing formation of a person who seeks to know God, understand oneself, recognize the dignity of others, and live with purpose.

KITA KITÁ: DYCI JHS Youth Camp 2025

A day of faith, purpose, and encounter at the DYCI JHS Youth Camp 2025: KITA KITÁ—where we were reminded that God sees us, we can choose to see Him, and we are called to see one another with love. Through Holy Mass, inspiring talks, reflection, and the Lantern-Making Activity, DYCIans came together as one family of faith, opening hearts and discovering God's presence in every moment.

A God-Centered Community

Growing in Faith and Purpose

DYCI's spiritual life is grounded in its commitment to God-centered formation. Faith provides a foundation for reflection, discernment, and the development of a meaningful sense of purpose.

Through prayer, worship, reflection, and formation, students are encouraged to become more attentive to God's presence in their lives, and to recognize how faith shapes the way they learn, relate with others, make decisions, and respond to the needs of the community.

Spiritual Formation

Opportunities to Encounter and Reflect

Spiritual formation gives members of the DYCI community room to pause, reflect, and deepen their faith amid the demands of academic and personal life. These experiences take many forms:

  • Holy Mass and liturgical celebrations
  • Prayer and reflection
  • Faith-based formation activities
  • Retreats and recollections
  • Youth and student formation programs
  • Spiritual talks and encounters
  • Community-based faith activities

The God-Centered Month is the highlight among the school’s character and spiritual formation program, celebrated during January of the year. There are different activites based on a specific theme including talks from selected guest speakers, praise and workships, ecumenical prating, testimonies from students, sharing, Eucharistic Celebration, recognition of the 10 Most God-Centered DYCIans, Gawad Banyuhay and other varying interschool contests. The primary goal of this activity is to capture the need for DYCIans to put God at the center of their lives and make Him their guiding light in every task, decision, and plan they are to pursue.

Faith in Everyday Life

Beyond Formal Activities

Spirituality extends beyond moments of formal prayer or religious celebration. DYCIans are encouraged to find reflection and encounter in ordinary experiences—the classroom, friendships, challenges, successes, service, and moments of silence.

Reflection is central to this. In pausing to consider questions of identity, purpose, relationships, faith, and responsibility, DYCIans develop greater self-awareness and become more intentional about the lives they hope to lead.

Faith also grows through community. It becomes meaningful when it is shared, and it is strengthened by listening, accompaniment, friendship, compassion, and a willingness to journey with others.

Faith Expressed Through Service

From Encounter to Action

A deeper awareness of God inspires compassion, generosity, responsibility, and service. Students are encouraged to recognize opportunities to contribute to their community and respond to the needs of others.

This connects spiritual formation with DYCI's broader mission: formation is not simply about personal growth, but about becoming a person capable of contributing meaningfully to others and to society.

A Community That Walks Together

Faith, Formation, and Belonging

The spiritual life of DYCI is ultimately about journeying together. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators contribute to an environment where faith can be expressed, explored, and strengthened.

At DYCI, education is not only about preparing the mind. It is also about forming the person—faithfully, purposefully, and in relationship with others.
